As part of the council budget plans for 2016/17 there is a proposal to reduce council funding for children’s centres.
Children’s centres include staff and services funded by the council and health services including health visitors and midwives. The proposals are about changes to council services and include:
- seven main children’s centres with smaller, local centres across the city
- continuing to offer open access baby groups
- at least one stay and play group in each area but less groups overall
- more talks and workshops about parenting.
