A planning application has been submitted for the redevelopment of the site that currently hosts Coachwerks, 19 Hollingdean Terrace. The application proposes that the existing building is demolished, and replaced with four new dwellings and flexible business space.
Four fourteen years the site has been managed as a hub for small local businesses. Coachwerks is currently home to Hollingdean Wholefoods – run by volunteers, and offering packaging free foods as well as fresh fruit, veg and bread; a community darkroom and a number of creative businesses. The space currently hosts regular events for the local community.
The current lease on the building expires in July, and it is hoped that funds can be raised to buy the building, continue to improve it and provide a thriving community space.
To have your say on the future of the site, see application no. BH2020/00018 – open for comments until Tuesday, February 11th.
