Peer Support for Parents of Teens

4th Feb

Livestock (Mothers Uncovered) are running  ‘Teen Years’ sessions– an evening peer support group for parents of older children, particularly teenagers.

There are three standalone sessions – the first was on 30th Jan – with further sessions on 6th Feb and 13th Feb. (A further set runs in March)

The sessoins provide a safe space to talk openly and honestly, without judgement, about the rewards and challenges you are experiencing. It is also a chance to acknowledge this time as a massive, and sometimes painful, transition from a parents’ role as centre stage in your child(ren)’s life to somewhere in the wings.

As one mother of a teen says:

‘I used to be funny, the source of entertainment. I used to cook the best food ever. I loved in the warmest, safest, cosiest way. I was RIGHT, more often than not, listened to, wise counsel. Today, as it is most days, I am worthy of a snort and a roll of the eyes, glory be the parental role of teenagers, ranked the lowest form, still wearing my most winning smile!’

If the group wishes to, there are  guided writing exercises.

The facilitators (male and female) have counselling/life coach experience – and are all parents of teens.

You can attend one, two or all three sessions.
Optional donation of up to £5 per session to cover refreshments, or you This or you can pay less.

Sessions are held at The Young People’s Centre, 69 Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AE from 7.00-9.00pm. Limited space so please get in touch to reserve your place –
